Constant Connect, Ready To Rock!

Do I have to remind you how important is to be able to connect to the Internet no matter where you are? I guess not, but let me also tell you another thing - while it's great to be able to connect at anytime and anywhere, I also think you shouldn't be connected unless you really need to. The reason? I know a lot of people who can't remember the last day when they spent more than 20 minutes looking at the sky, thinking about past and future, and even spend some quality time with their friends. OFFLINE. Don't worry, I am not going to continue telling you how good is to get away from technology for a while, because only a chosen few can afford such a luxury. Instead, I will tell you a few things about Constant Connect, a new solution from Lenovo and RIM to keep you connected anytime, anywhere... as long as you have the right tools of the trade up and running, of course!Announced way back in February, Constant Connect is now finally available as a $149 option available from select business partners and, of course, through Lenovo.com.Just to refresh your memory, Lenovo and RIM "announced that the two companies will work together to promote new Lenovo mobile solutions that will help on-the-go business users enhance their mobile computing and communications experience through tighter integration between Lenovo ThinkPad laptop computers and BlackBerry® smartphones," but that was happening back in February, as I said a bit earlier. The Constant Connect solution allows ThinkPads to pull down BlackBerry emails as long as it's within range, even when the laptop is off. Completely off, to make it even more clear! At last, you can write email on your laptop, and send it via BlackBerry's wireless connection, a feature that's great for those times when you can't get to any WiFi hotspot or 3G access for your laptop.

Best Laptop For Children

If you have kids, then you probably know that, for most parents, it would be easier to find a laptop for the dog then for the children. I know some of you could say that I'm totally wrong, and I only have this to answer - you never knew the kid of one buddy of mine! For example, his monitor had fingers all over it(nothing so special here), and his keyboard knew all possible milk flavors and cookie tastes! Now, we're getting there so, considering all the above, aren't you wondering what's the best laptop for children? If you don't have children yet, that's not an excuse - one day, you'll have to find out the answer to this question anyway, so why not be able to give some useful advice to those around you before finding yourself in the same situation, huh?OK, here's the best laptop for children of the day(maybe not the best ever, but surely the best of the week, haha) - the PeeWee Pivot Tablet Laptop, making its entry into the market as we speak. Its main competitor is the good old OLPC XO, but we'll leave that one aside and see what's inside this little beast: a PeeWee security software to enable parents watch their kids' activity online, spill and drop resistance, packing the now ubiquitous Intel Atom processor, a convertible rotating screen and touch tablet with stylus, a 1.3 MP webcam able to rotate 180 degrees. Also coming with 1 GB of standard memory and a 60 GB "classic" hard drive, the Windows XP Home-powered PeeWee Pivot Tablet Laptop's price starts at $599.99 and is currently available only through http://www.peeweepc.com/.

World’s Most Expensive Laptop Costs $350,000: Cheapest Laptop is Just $100

Small world but huge difference. Today, I was searching about expensive laptops and I found one laptop to have price tag of nearly $350,000. It is Tulip E-Go Diamond. From the name you can rightly guess that it has a touch of diamond.
I could find a nice description of this laptop in AMDboard.com:

“Tulip E-Go notebook inlaid with solid palladium white gold plates in which thousands of brilliant cut diamonds have been set. The quality is V.V.S. top-Wesselton and the total weight is 80.00 Crt.
The brilliant cut diamonds are microscopic and pave set with surgical precision. This magnificent end result is possible thanks to the use of brilliant cut diamonds with a large variety of diameters.”
I do not how many people can afford this laptop or even how many people are willingly spend so much after a laptop. However, I know that those people who would buy Tulip E-Go Diamond, would simply buy it for status symbol or as a fashionable item not to play games or watch a movie with it. About its technical specification, I am quoting from Softpedia:
“The E-Go laptop is hand bag shaped and it is targeted at ladies, so, not exactly for gamers. Though, the specifications are good. The system is based on an AMD Turion 64 processor, with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphic chipset and featuring 1 GB of DDR RAM PC3200 memory. The hard disk can store 100 GB SATA and the display is a 12.1 inch widescreen WHGA, supporting 1280 X 800 pixel resolution.
Also, a DVD-RW optical unit is available, a touch pad, a built in webcam with a LED illuminative point and a microphone for video and voice conferences. The connectivity is enabled by Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth 1.2, the ExpressCard slot, by four USB 2.0 slots and the 10/100Base-T NIC. Additionally, VGA and S-Video port are available and a SD/MMC/MS/MS Duo card reader.
Tulip E-Go Diamond sound system is a 2.1 one stereo, while the battery has a four hour lifetime specification.”
Only four hour of battery life. I am extremely disappointed. I would not bother to pay $350,000 just to have 4 hours of battery life. Instead, I will try to have one unit of the world’s cheapest laptop at $100. Haven’t you ever heard of One Laptop Per Child project? Of course, if you are day dreaming about Tulip E-Go Diamond then you should not remember it. What is $100 laptop after all. You can find the answer in the project website:
“The proposed $100 machine will be a Linux-based, with a dual-mode display—both a full-color, transmissive DVD mode, and a second display option that is black and white reflective and sunlight-readable at 3× the resolution. The laptop will have a 500MHz processor and 128MB of DRAM, with 500MB of Flash memory; it will not have a hard disk, but it will have four USB ports. The laptops will have wireless broadband that, among other things, allows them to work as a mesh network; each laptop will be able to talk to its nearest neighbors, creating an ad hoc, local area network. The laptops will use innovative power (including wind-up) and will be able to do most everything except store huge amounts of data.”
Image Link: One Laptop per Child
Even this $100 laptop will have a way to charge it with alternative energy sources. So, I am a big fan of this $100 laptop. The only problem is that I am not a school children anymore. I still do not have a child of my own either. So, I will have to wait until a commercial version comes to the market at $200 or some more!
Which one would you like to buy?

Is 2009 the Year of the Netbook?

Netbooks have become much more popular in 2008 and with the new year here, it makes us wonder: Will 2009 be the year of the Netbook?Netbooks are low-cost, highly-portable, light-weight, energy-efficient laptops most commonly used for web browsing and general purpose applications. Since they are small, light and affordable, Netbooks dont have as much processing power and offer less features than a regular laptop. Standard netbooks have a 9" screen, weigh about 3 pounds and cost somewhere under 400 dollars. The netbooks were designed with mobile internet users in mind. Nobody wants to pay thousands of dollars to buy a laptop just to access the internet on the go. And with the increase in demand for mobile internet access, its no surprise that these netbooks are becoming extremely useful and will continue to grow in popularity in 2009.

Most expensive laptop you can buy

If you were rich and wanted to buy the most expensive laptop you could possibly find what would it be? Well I set out to answer this question and I feel that I have succeeded in making the laptop of my dreams. The laptop is of course an Alienware and its final cost is $7,127.00!Now that is a lot of money, but what can you get inside of a $7000 laptop? Well for starters you had to pick which laptop to get from Alienware’s already expensive lineup. The choice was easy the Alienware Are-51 m17x would be easily the best pick because with a base cost of $2000 it was by far the most expensive choice. Now we get into the real rich man’s playground, the upgrades! I am sure you have all went into a laptop upgrade config and selected all the most expensive upgrades and drool at the cost and the performance, well that is exactly what I did.Video Card: Dual 512MB NVIDEA GeForce 9800M GT SLICost: $850 – The 9800M GT SLI is the fastest video card out right now. These two video cards will guarantee you the highest quality in any game you play for a long time.Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 2.8GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB) *Also the worlds most powerful mobile processorCost- $90017” 1900 x 1200 LCD w/ illuminated keyboardThis is ridiculous quality for a 17 inch screen. My 22 inch monitor only has a resolution of 1650 x 1050! Also the Alienware illuminated keyboard is very sexy and if you have never seen one before you are truly missing out. Upgrade Cost - $504GB DDR2 667MHz RAM: This seems a little low to me. I would think a high end laptop like this would have at least DDR3 RAM and 6GB, but it might they might have been limited by the fact that they had to fit so much inside of it already. Still 4GB of RAM is plenty for a laptop and you will definitely see a huge performance gain.Cost- $350Hard Drive: 256GB (128GB x 2) Solid State Drives. Not sure you will see a performance gain in here when it comes to games, but you will sure see a price gain! Also worth mentioning is the fact that solid state drives are very quiet and produce very little heat.Cost- $1050Optical Drive: 2x Dual Layer Blu-ray Disc Burner. Wow could you imagine having a Blu-ray player for your 1200p laptop. This is a must and it sure would impress. Blu-ray movies look amazing especially when it is being played at the highest possible resolution.Cost- $400Software & AccessoriesAlienware Orion Back and 320GB External HHD - $195Astro A40 Audio System - $275Wireless Mouse - $803 year warranty $30036 month subscription to McAfee $80Microsoft Office 2007 Professional - $250The best part about this is you get your name engraved on the laptop, I mean how cool is that and all you had to do was spend a small fortune. I would really like to see this laptop built and would love to have it. I am very curious as to how well it would play Crisis. A couple facts worth mentioning is the fact that with all the performance upgrades makes this laptop not the most suitable for portability. It is 2.1 inches this and its just a solid black tone and comes in at a total of 11 pounds! Also I would like to end this article with a great quote I heard today from my friend.“Dear God, you made many, many poor people. I realize there's no shame in being poor...but it's no great honor either. So what would have been so terrible if I had a small fortune?”-Tevye
